Order Editor Pro — fix the order instead of cancelling it

Change quantity, swap a variant, add or remove line items, correct a shipping address or phone number and apply a discount after checkout. Totals recalculate, every change is logged, and the edit window closes at fulfilment.

What Order Editor Pro does

Wrong size, wrong colour, wrong house number. Every store gets these calls within minutes of checkout, and the usual answer is cancel and reorder, which loses the sale and the analytics with it. Order Editor Pro edits the existing order in place. Staff edit from the admin, customers edit from a link in their confirmation message. Totals, taxes and shipping recalculate. A log records who changed what and when, so the warehouse and finance can trace it.

What you get

Line item editing

Change quantity, swap to another variant of the same product, add a new item or remove one, with stock checked before the change commits.

Address and contact fixes

Correct the delivery address, area and city, or update the phone number, before the order is handed to a courier and becomes undeliverable.

Recalculated totals

Subtotal, shipping, tax and any applied discount recompute on every edit, and the balance owed or refundable is shown before you confirm.

Customer self-serve link

A tokenised link in the confirmation SMS, WhatsApp or email lets the buyer make permitted edits without messaging your support team.

Edit window rules

Set how long editing stays open and which fields customers may touch. The window closes automatically once the order is fulfilled.

Audit log

Every edit records the user or customer, the fields changed, old and new values, and a timestamp, exportable for dispute resolution.

How it works

  1. 1

Set your edit window, decide which fields staff may change and which customers may change themselves.

  2. 2

Add the self-serve edit link to your order confirmation templates so buyers can act without calling support.

  3. 3

An edit is made. Stock is checked, totals recalculate, and the order updates with a note on the timeline.

  4. 4

The window closes at fulfilment. The audit log stays available for finance and courier disputes.

Why merchants run it

Fewer cancellations

An order that gets corrected still ships. Cancel-and-reorder loses attribution, loses the discount code and often loses the customer.

Lower RTO on COD

Wrong addresses and dead phone numbers drive a large share of returns to origin. Fixing them before dispatch removes the failed trip entirely.

Support tickets shortened

Self-serve editing takes routine change requests off WhatsApp and out of the agent queue during peak sale days.

Accountability on changes

When a parcel goes to the wrong address, the log shows who edited it. Disputes with staff and couriers stop being arguments about memory.

Frequently asked questions

What happens when an edit raises the order value?

For a cash on delivery order the new total simply goes to the courier, which is the common case locally. For a prepaid order the difference has to be collected, so the app can issue a payment link or hold the edit for staff approval depending on your setting.

Can customers edit anything they like?

No. You choose the permitted fields. Most merchants allow address, phone and quantity reduction on the customer link, and keep variant swaps and additions with staff. Discounts are never exposed to the customer side.

Does editing break my fulfilment or ERP integration?

Edits write back to the Shopify order, so any system reading the order after the edit sees the new state. Systems that pull the order at creation and never refresh will hold stale data, which is why the window closes at fulfilment.

Is inventory adjusted when items change?

Yes. Removing or reducing a line releases the reserved units, and adding one checks availability first. If stock is insufficient the edit is refused rather than silently oversold.
